Library Work Continues
The Cyrenius H. Booth Library has been open for more than a month, but the $4
million project still is not 100 percent completed.
"We've got things to do, yet," explained Public Building & Site Committee
Chairman Frank Krasnickas Thursday morning. "We don't have substantial
completion."
Most of the unfinished work involves "punch list" items, such as fixing minor
wiring problems and painting some exterior windows and shudders.
The project was originally scheduled to be completed last June. However, the
discovery of asbestos, a lack of manpower, and other problems held up the job.
The Board of Selectmen eventually voted to fire the general contractor,
Building Technologies, Inc, of Prospect (BTI). At the time, BTI President
Keith Crumb vowed he would sue the town for failure to pay some bills and
defamation of his company's name.
"He apparently wants to settle," Mr Krasnickas said this week.
