Businesses Can Learn To Compete With ‘Big Box’ Stores

BETHEL — “Main Street Retail: How to Compete with Big Box Stores” is the topic Bob Banasik, owner/founder of Best Business Associates will present to retailers in the Bethel, Newtown area the morning of Wednesday, September 15.

Open specifically to local area retail owners and mangers, manufacturing and service firms, the breakfast will be held at the Stony Hill Inn on Route 6. The breakfast meeting will be hosted by the Bethel Chamber of Commerce and will begin with registration at 7:30 am, with the program starting promptly at 8 am.

A decades-long entrepreneur and successful business owner, Mr Banasik will provide important insights specifically directed to area retailers, manufacturers, and service companies on how they can effectively compete in today’s tough economy. His ambition will be to help attendees “take an introspective view of their current business, and put everything on the table.”

“Recent changes in the business and economic climate have raised the bar in defining business success,” he explained. “What worked well a few years ago for retailers is not working well currently. My ambition is to help retailers identify how their consumer base has really changed, and how to get their customers back.”

He added that the program is for “leaders and managers who are serious about renewing their efforts, reinventing their business, and making decisions that can positively impact their bottom line.”

With more than 35 years of successful experience in the photo industry, Mr Banasik has witnessed significant changes in business management. He has also launched and sustained numerous start-up businesses. He started his first company at age 21, and had 25 employees by age 25. He has expertise in the arenas of retail marketing, digital imaging, IT and ASP solutions, human resources, new market development, strategic planning, and consumer products. Mr Banasik received his bachelor of science degree in marketing from Post University.

During the September 15 breakfast, Mr Banasik will educate retailers on how companies can “Develop strategic marketing plans that can better define a company’s Unique Selling Proposition.”

He will help attendees “focus on their distinctive competencies, and build their competitive advantage using proven cornerstones as a foundation.”

Mr Banasik believes that success in business means many things, but turning an entrepreneur’s sense of urgency into sustainable profit streams, building assets, planned growth, and a comfortable exit strategy should always be the primary goals.

The event is being sponsored by Silver Touch sterling silver jewelry in Bethel, and UK Gourmet specialty store for goodies from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The fee for the “How to Compete” breakfast meeting is $12 for Bethel Chamber members, $15 for nonmembers.
