Margaret Fahey Annett (“Peggy”, “Mom” and “Mimi”), the beloved wife of Charles E. “Skip” Annett III for nearly 60 years, and the loving mother of Michelle (Chris) Prassas, Brendan (Anne) Annett and Mary Sharlene (Jason) Kew, passed away in her Wellfleet Cape Cod home surrounded by her family on April 26, 2025. She was the cherished grandmother of Connor, Madeline, Brendan, August, Brynn and Brogan.

The devoted daughter of Joseph R. Fahey and Mary “Marie” Fahey and the dear sister of the late Mary Baker and Rev Joseph R. Fahey, S.J., Peggy was born in Boston in 1943. She grew up in Mattapan and Dorchester, attended Fontbonne Academy, then graduated from Boston College with the class of 1965, later earning a master’s degree from Fairfield University.

An honorable veteran, Peggy served as an officer in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Beyond her military service, she led a lifetime of service to others and her community. She had a long and successful career as a Registered Nurse in hospitals, a pediatric practice, and a nursing home. In 2016, she retired after 35 years as an elementary school nurse in Newtown, where she was an active, respected and well-loved member of the community and St Rose Parish. She brought her extraordinary courage while offering much needed practical and empathetic care to children, their families and neighbors dealing with every imaginable challenge of life over decades, including the effects of the unimaginable events of 9/11/01 and 12/14/12.

Everyone knew Peggy for her caring empathy. Her closest friends and family knew her for her love of fun and humor, such as dancing with Skip and her endless practical jokes. She famously loved her morning Dunkin Donuts coffee and Brigham’s Ice Cream (sometimes for dinner, according to the grandchildren!).

She had an adventurous spirit that led her all over Europe, to Africa and many of the US National Parks for which she had a special affection. On an adventure with Skip in the early 1970s she discovered Wellfleet amidst the Cape Cod National Seashore, where they spent an increasing amount of time shared with family and friends and especially with children and then grandchildren.

In addition to those already mentioned, Peggy also leaves behind her best friend of 76 years, Gini Tilley Bulger of Easton, Mass. (from little girls to old age, their friendship was one of life’s greatest gifts); her dear cousin Mary Jane England of Boston and Falmouth, Mass.; and her treasured nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family is planned for Thursday, May 1, at 9 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Wellfleet, Mass. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10 am. Burial service with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery (use Connery Avenue entrance), in Bourne, Mass., will then occur at 2 pm.

Gratitude is extended to Dr Robert Hallowell for the care he gave during Peggy’s long fight with Interstitial Lung Disease.

In lieu of flowers (due to limitations at church and cemetery), donations in honor of Peggy may be made to the ILD Collaborative at www.ildcollaborative.org/support
