Weekend Closure Of Exit 9 Onramp Planned; Access Unavailable Tonight Through Monday Morning
The on ramp will be continuously closed starting at 7 pm Friday, August 28, until 6 am Monday, August 31.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced a planned closure of the Exit 9 on ramp to I-84 Eastbound from Hawleyville Road/Route 25 for the weekend of August 28-31.
The on ramp will be continuously closed starting at 7 pm Friday, August 28, until 6 am Monday, August 31.
Detours will be in place.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
The closure is part of ongoing work for CTDOT Project No 0096-0208, which consists of extending the truck climbing lane on I-84 East, constructing a new Exit 9 on ramp acceleration lane, median fill work, and drainage improvements.
The project was awarded to Richards Corporation at a cost of $8,138,061 on January 9, 2026. Work began in March and is scheduled to be completed October 3, 2027.
This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.
