Patrick Carroll
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick John Carroll, 78, of Southbury. Pat passed away peacefully, on April 29, 2025, surrounded by his wife, Susan, and other family members.
Patrick was a retired electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW 488). He was a devoted parishioner of St Rose Church in Newtown.
Pat played football at Harding High School in Bridgeport and at the University of Bridgeport. Patrick was a Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving our country.
He was an avid sports fan. He loved to watch the NY Yankees, the NY Giants and the UConn Huskies. Pat taught many siblings, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and even his wife, Susan, how to catch and throw a football. “You gotta have soft hands,” he would say!
Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Susan Carroll; stepsons, Michael Nowlan (Elizabeth) and Patrick Nowlan (Kelly); three grandsons, Will, Peter, and Jack; and two granddaughters, Clara and Sophia.
Pat was the third child of 13 children of which he is survived by nine of those siblings: Cathy Boudreau (Daniel), JoAnne Chontos (Richard), (Sharon Carroll), Charles Carroll (Charlotte), Arthur Carroll, Philip Carroll (Robin), Mary Wilgus (Craig), Joseph Carroll (Elizabeth), Margaret Carroll (Donna Macrino), and Michele DeLisle (Jean Yves).
Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as many, many cousins, also survive him.
Patrick was predeceased by his parents, Robert J. Carroll Sr and Jeanne Carroll; brothers, Robert J. Carroll Jr, Paul Carroll and Andrew Carroll; and three nephews, PJ Carroll, Daniel Boudreaux and Ben Carroll.
Patrick will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his devoted wife, Susan. His legacy lives on in the love he shared and the memories he created with his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 13, at 11 am, at St Rose Church, Newtown, followed by a burial at Newtown Village Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
