To The Editor:

I’m writing in opposition to the proposed ordinance on parades and public assemblies.

Requiring permitted public assemblies or parades to pay for police protection, as determined to be necessary by the police chief, will make such assemblies prohibitively expensive, and is against our first amendment right to assembly.

I urge the Legislative Council to vote against this ordinance, and continue to allow Newtowners their right to freedom of speech.
