Dozens of people showed up to Newtown Scouting America Troops' Open House on September 1. Local troops teamed up to host an open house right after the annual Newtown Labor Day Parade on the lawn in front of Newtown Middle School. Community members of all ages enjoyed an afternoon full of activities while also learning the benefits of Scouting. The Scouts set up and ran a wide variety of stations, each with its own unique acitivity for people to enjoy. People could test their aim with inflatable archery, cast a fishing rod for backyard bass fishing, or compete against each other in a Lego race car derby, among many other games. Troop 770 Assistant Scoutmaster Ryan Slater thanked the community for stopping by, adding that they had a “great turnout.”
