Doria Linnetz Running For Board Of Education
To The Editor:
I currently serve on the Newtown Board of Education and am seeking election to a full four-year term starting December 1.
By way of introduction, my husband and I moved to Newtown in 2007. We have two children, both attending Newtown Public Schools. We also share our home with our two dogs (Toby & Ruby) and two cats (Archie & Trip).
Professionally, over the last 20+ years, I have served as a human resource professional in various industries. Throughout my career I have faced numerous business and employee challenges which required understanding of various perspectives and finding balanced, fair and transparent solutions. My approach involves listening, empathy, and clear thinking with a focus on the problem that needs to be solved.
In addition to my professional experience, I have served on the Board of Education since December 2023. As part of the BOE I have served on the Superintendent Search Committee, Chair the Policy Sub-Committee, am a member of the Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion Committee, and am the Board Liaison to three union contract negotiations having also served as the liaison to a union contract negotiation last year.
In addition to BOE service, I have been on the Board of Directors of EverWonder Children’s Museum, eventually serving as Vice Chair. Following serving on EverWonder’s Board, I was a member of the Newtown Community Center Committee/Commission.
I’m grateful for the privilege to serve on the BOE and am proud of the great work happening across our district. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving our students, families, staff and the greater school community.
