Patricia Anne (Casey) Lodato (October 4, 1933-August 20, 2025)
Patricia Anne (Casey) Lodato died at her home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on August 20, 2025. She was 91 years old.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1933 to Patrick and Anne (Conway) Casey and was the youngest of three sisters (Virginia York and Lucille Cannava), both of whom predeceased her. She attended Our Lady of Victory Elementary School and Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, N.Y. After spending her first two years of college at Marygrove College in Detroit, Patricia completed her bachelor’s at Fordham University. Upon graduation, she became an elementary school teacher, first in Stewart Manor, and then in Scarsdale, N.Y., an experience she spoke of fondly for the rest of her life. She met her husband, Frank (1926-2021), at a gathering for Catholic teachers in Garden City.
She and Frank built a home in Bedford, N.Y., in the early 1960s. Their family grew to three children in the time that they lived there before they moved to Florida, then back north to Brookfield and Newtown. They retired to Palm Beach Gardens in 2003, which she later said was one of their best decisions as a place to spend their later years.
In Newtown, she earned her real estate license and worked for firms in the area. She enjoyed tennis, was an avid reader, and was very active in Newtown Friends of Music for several years. She was devoted to the written word in correspondence as well, and her family and friends greatly enjoyed and anticipated receiving cards and letters in her impeccable penmanship, with genuine love and affection expressed beautifully in each missive.
In a ten-year span, she welcomed four grandchildren, whom she adored and bragged about without prompting. To the end of her life, she asked for updates on their lives and achievements.
Pat was a generous person with her time and treasure. She was an earnest, compassionate listener and an excellent storyteller. She would unleash her hearty laugh when a story hit her Irish funny bone. Numerous charities benefitted from her generosity to the end of her life, including Catholic missions in Alaska, Wyoming, and Honduras. She also shared her talents with the Council of Catholic Women in Palm Beach Gardens for many years, where she helped sell Irish soda bread and served on the spirituality committee.
Pat and Frank were married for 64 years. She is survived by their three children — Denise, Raymond (Bronwyn) and Janice (Christopher); and four grandchildren — Gabriel, Matthew, and Nicholas Lodato and Phoebe Hopper.
Her funeral Mass was held at her childhood parish, Our Lady of Victory in Floral Park, New York. Inurnment took place at St Rose Cemetery in Newtown.
