To The Editor:

I am writing to offer my complete and enthusiastic endorsement for the re-election of Jim Gaston to the Newtown Board of Finance on November 4, 2025. I do this without reservation, and I hope these reasons encourage you to support him, too.

From the moment I met Attorney Gaston, I recognized his statesmanlike qualities and a real presence — he is no “shrinking violet.” At a local gathering, I listened to him address town issues and was immediately impressed by his sharp intellect, genuine curiosity, and his unwavering commitment to finding solutions. More than that, he has a deep commitment to helping people, whether it’s through his professional law practice, as a friendly neighbor, or in public office.

Jim is a well-known, well-liked, and highly respected member of our community. His political résumé, professional work, and volunteer experience are extensive, diverse, and consistently top-notch. He’s a seasoned negotiator and, quite simply, one very smart guy.

The key takeaway is this: Attorney Gaston has served Newtown with dedication for many years, including his time as a Selectman, always putting the town’s best interests first. While he’s certainly earned the right to step back, his passion for service remains. He enjoys what he does and performs his duties exceptionally well. Newtown benefits from a seasoned, caring leader like Jim — someone who thoroughly reviews the information, listens attentively to constituents, is faithful in meeting attendance, and votes responsibly. I’m incredibly grateful for dedicated public servants like Jim Gaston.

For all of these reasons, I will continue to support Representative Gaston for another term on the Board of Finance. Please join me on Election Day.
