To The Editor:

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already read dozens of these letters. And I’m sure you’re asking yourself, who is this Brandon guy and why should I care what he says? Well, frankly, you shouldn’t! I’m just another Newtown resident like everyone else. But one thing about me is that I care very, very deeply about public service. I spent years as an Army Apache helicopter pilot and fought the Taliban in Afghanistan, so I know what it means to put your money where your mouth is for American values. Bottom line, we need more service-minded, selfless people in elected office. That’s why, without a doubt, I am voting for Bruce Walczak for First Selectman.

Bruce is not your ordinary candidate. He truly cares about Newtown and has demonstrated his compassion over decades of service. If you’re unaware of this, that’s because Bruce serves behind the scenes rather than in front of cameras. He has led fundraising for United Way to help those most in need. He has served as Chairman of the Family Counseling Center to help residents through life’s hardest moments. He has also served on the Police Commission to make Newtown a safer place for us all.

Bruce is a non-partisan, common sense guy. He is not a politician. His record of service has earned him the nomination by Independents and Democrats alike. That’s rare, and it shows that people from all sides trust his judgment and character.

Bruce isn’t running for First Selectman for clout, prestige, or a salary. He’s running because he loves our town and wants to make it better for all of us. For those who care more about public service than politics, I humbly urge you to vote for Bruce Walczak. He’s the leader we deserve.
