Flagpole Photographers Celebrate Opening Of ‘Newtown & Beyond’
Flagpole Photographers Camera Club held the opening reception on November 9 for its annual exhibition, “Newtown and Beyond.”
Nearly 300 original photographs by members of the local photography club are being presented in the grand corridor of Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street. The exhibition offers the opportunity for guests to experience the talent and creativity of local photographers.
Most images are available for purchase.
“Newtown & Beyond” is on view to December 30. The building is open weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and weeknights when a Town board or commission is meeting.
‘Tour Of Newtown’
As part of Sunday’s celebratory opening, Rhonda Cullens was on hand to sign copies of A Tour of Newtown, Connecticut.
Cullens is exhibit chair for the local camera club, and vice president of The New England Camera Club Council, where she has been awarded the honors of Master Member and Honorary Member for her service.
Cullens is also the author and producer of A Tour of Newtown, Connecticut, which has just released its third edition.
First released in late 2018, the recently updated and extended book continues to take readers on a journey through the town’s rich history and charming landmarks.
A Tour of Newtown, Connecticut highlights the heart and history of Newtown. Readers discover the stories behind Main Street’s historic sites and explore the people, events, and organizations that make Newtown such a vibrant and supportive community.
The 74-page book is filled with full-color images accompanying the narratives.
Cullens will be joined next week by Tour of Newtown Co-Producer Ed Miklaszewski for a special event at Aquila’s Nest Vineyards in Sandy Hook. The two will be at the Pole Bridge Road vineyard on Thursday, November 20, from 6 to 8 pm. Copies of A Tour of Newtown, Connecticut will be available for purchase, and Cullens will sign copies for those who wish to have her do so.
Books are $25 each, with all proceeds benefiting Lions Club charities. Attendees will also be invited to enjoy the wines and cozy ambiance of Aquila’s indoor tasting room — as featured in the new edition of the book.
Reservations are requested and available through aquilasnestvineyards.com.
