Grateful For Success Of Turkey Trot
To The Editor:
As chair of the Development Committee, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire Newtown community for making this year’s Turkey Trot such a tremendous success. On a beautiful Thanksgiving morning, more than 1,700 runners and walkers filled the streets with excitement, energy, and true Newtown spirit.
We are deeply grateful to all our sponsors and volunteers — far too many to name — whose generosity and hard work make this event possible each year. Special thanks to our Title Sponsors: Friends of the C.H. Booth Library and The Gym Newtown. Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue proudly raised our flag and provided a golf cart for volunteer race marshals, while Two Guys and a Pint did an outstanding job as Master of Ceremonies, keeping the crowd lively and engaged.
Volunteers from Newtown Savings Bank and our Library Board of Trustees worked tirelessly before, during and after the race. Ingersoll Auto added fun with a sleek pace car, Newtown Rotary and BioRestore kept participants hydrated, and Blue Colony Diner delighted top finishers with pies. The Newtown Bee, as always, supported the event at every stage.
A special thank you goes to Jordana Bloom, Strategic Project Manager for the library, whose tireless behind-the-scenes work is the backbone of the Turkey Trot and a key reason it remains such a joyful Newtown tradition.
The Turkey Trot is more than a race — it’s a celebration of community, generosity, and support for our beloved C.H. Booth Library. We are grateful to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, or cheered. We can’t wait to see even more of you next year!
