On Saturday, December 13, starting at 12:30 pm, Santa will visit from the North Pole — by way of Tolland — to spend the afternoon and early evening at Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company’s main station, 18-20 Riverside Road.

Santa will invite families to join him on his special antique sleigh (Engine 12-25), and promises to stay until everyone has had their holiday ride, which should be around 6 pm. Members of Tolland Fire Department have been visiting Sandy Hook — with Santa, his sleigh, and a few escort vehicles — for over a decade.

The rides are free, but donations will be gratefully accepted and shared by the two fire companies.

Rides are on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted. Light refreshments will be available.

For more information, go to sandyhookfire.com or visit the company’s Facebook page, facebook.com/sandyhookfire.

Sandy Hook VFR firefighters will also be continuing the company’s final fundraiser of the year, the Christmas Trees (& More!) Sale. Fresh cut trees, wreaths, kissing balls, and cemetery boxes will be available for purchase while supplies last. Pine roping has already sold out for the season. Proceeds from that sale, which continues weekends until December 21 or while supplies last, benefit the fire company.
