Trinity Episcopal Church hosted an “Evensong” service in conjunction with Newtown Holiday Festival on Sunday, December 7.

The free performance began at 3 pm and offered attendees a meditative hour of music and prayerful readings featuring singers from Trinity Choir and Connecticut Choral Society.

The program included works of Richard Lloyd, William Byrd, Antonio Vivaldi, A.H. Brewer, Thomas Attwood Walmisley, Charles Gounod, Albert Hay Malotte, and Mary McDonald.

The special service at the town’s Episcopal Church occurred during the five-hour festival event presented by and as a benefit for Newtown Youth & Family Services. This year’s festival offered events at Edmond Town Hall, a large outdoor market along the sidewalks of Main Street, trolley rides, and tours of nearby historic homes.

Trinity Church again hosted the event’s Festival of Trees, which debuted on Saturday and featured a grand presentation with decorated wreaths, artificial trees and centerpieces, and other items offered through raffle; and a gingerbread house competition.
