To The Editor:

While the world shudders around us, we try to comprehend this new normal, which is in no way normal. We find ourselves being called to action. The constant shifting of what is permitted and what is dangerous, keeps us in a state of uncertainty and fear. We contemplate whether we are brave enough to show up, use our voice and protect the vulnerable. Yet at every political event, protest, or rally in Newtown, you will find passionate people showing up, with signs and slogans. There is community in Newtown, solidarity for our neighbors both near and far.

From the smallest gesture to the largest donation, we move the needle. Determine how you can help. Reach out, check in, speak out, and show up.

This is our town, our state, and our country. We are patriots and each day that we exercise our rights brings us closer to each other. “Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” must still be available to all.
