For 60 years, Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) has been the standard-bearer for professionalism in fundraising. The Fairfield County chapter recently conducted its annual Funder's Panel, and two local organizations were well represented.

Julie Schmitter is a member of AFP Fairfield County's board of directors and director of development for Newtown Youth & Family Services.

Julia Douglas, vice president, community relations officer, Newtown Savings Bank, was one of the panelists during the February 19 event.

AFP Fairfield County Chapter’s annual event brings nonprofit professionals together with funders for an open conversation about the funding environment and what funders are prioritizing today. The lunchtime panel explores trends in philanthropy, approaches to grant-making and partnerships, and considerations nonprofits should keep in mind as they build and maintain funding relationships. The discussion also includes time for audience questions.

This year’s event was sold out, with more than 80 attendees.
