Supports Embree Ku
To The Editor:
I am a retired Professor of Education who spent 58 years educating teachers for K-12 positions and supporting students, schools, parents and teachers through grant funded projects. I have lived in Newtown since 1976.
I am a lifelong Democrat and am writing in support of Michelle Ku’s candidacy for CT State House, 106th District. I have followed her career in local office since she served on the Newtown Board of Education. I have experienced and agree with her efforts to hear from residents of Newtown as she has both visited my house and listened attentively to my questions and concerns at local gatherings.
As a member of the Board of Education and its chair (2017-2021) she worked to assure that our schools work for all children, including those with special needs. As a senior I welcome her efforts to work toward a healthcare system that works for me, brings more doctors to the Newtown community and supports quality care. I know that she will be in support of taming our energy costs. Finally, her background in science make her singularly prepared to address growing environmental threats through action. Michelle will be a strong voice for Newtown and for our community members. I believe that she knows me and knows all of you.
She is ready to support what we need, what we want and what we deserve. She is not ever too busy to listen to my concerns and to get back to me quickly with information that I need. I will volunteer to support her candidacy and contribute to her campaign. I urge others to take the opportunity to learn more about her and her beliefs in the months ahead. She has my vote and deserves yours as well.
