May Is Mental Health Awareness Month
To The Editor:
As May is Mental Health Awareness Month, we are writing to invite our community to join us for a special morning of creativity and connection. On Saturday, May 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., we will be hosting "Chalk the Walk for Mental Health" at the Newtown Community Center, located at 8 Simpson Street. We are hoping for beautiful weather but if it rains the event will be moved indoors.
This event is completely free and open to residents of all ages. Whether you’re a local artist or just someone who wants to share a kind word, we encourage you to help us transform the walkways of the Community Center into a vibrant tapestry of supportive messages and colorful designs.
Events like this are a simple yet powerful way to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and remind our neighbors that they are not alone. It’s a chance for us to gather outdoors, express ourselves, and show that Newtown is a community that cares deeply about the well-being of every individual.
We provide the chalk; you provide the inspiration. We look forward to seeing the sidewalks come to life with hope and positivity on May 9.
