Newtown High School (NHS) announced its Class of 2026 demi-decile students on Tuesday, April 28.

The 15 students gathered in the school's main office for the special announcement, where they were greeted by NHS Principal Kimberly Longobucco and other NHS staff members.

Longobucco said being in the top demi-decile means they are the top five percent of their graduating class. The demi-decile students will also be announced at graduation and get to walk across the stage before the rest of their peers.

Afterwards, Longobucco led her fellow staff members in cheering for the students and congratulating them on all their hard work.

The students then gathered in the lobby, where friends and faculty excitedly took photos of them.

Olivia Bossio-Dotolo was announced as this year’s Valedictorian and Nikita Mukka was announced as this year’s Salutatorian.

Along with Bossio-Dotolo and Mukka, the other students in the top demi-decile are Lauren Allen, Macey Arcario, Gillian Boughan, Jack Carta, Gabriella DiNicola, Sonya Feder, Cameron Linnetz, Aidan Lourenco, Katherine Lye, Riana Mason, Jameson Piccuillo, Andrew Stango, and Hannah Stowe.
