Head O’Meadow (HOM) Elementary School students cast their votes in the school’s annual “Vote for Books” event on Monday, April 27, the day before Newtown’s annual budget referendum. Students voted on which books the HOM PTA should purchase for the school’s library. The books are divided into two groups: Yellow Group, with books on Olympic sports, happily ever afters, and television, movies, and games; and the Orange Group, covering Lego, timeless tales, and American-focused books. “Vote For Books” served as a voting lesson for students, and was timed before the referendum so students could remind their families to vote.
