Moore Arrested On DUI, Evading Charges
A former Democratic candidate for a state representative seat was arrested by Newtown Police on evading and DUI charges on June 13.
According to police, Brandon Moore, 35, of Newtown, was located after leaving the scene where he hit a telephone pole and was arrested by police on the charges of evading responsibility for property damage, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and failure to drive in the proper lane.
At 11:42 pm June 13, officers were dispatched to the location of a single car collision in the area of Castle Hill and Great Hill Roads. Upon arrival, officers found that a utility pole was heavily damaged and suspended in the air by utility wires. No vehicle was found at the scene. The vehicle was found a short distance away from the scene of the crash and a traffic stop was performed. An on scene investigation was performed and Moore was placed under arrest.
Moore was released from police custody on a written promise to appear at Danbury Superior Court. His arraignment was scheduled for June 23. He did not enter a plea. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 7, also in Danbury.
Moore ran as a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the State 106th District Representative seat against Michelle Embree Ku, losing by 20 votes, 240-220, at a Democratic Caucus on May 26. He declined to run against her in a primary in August.
