Newtown Cares-Suicide Prevention Initiative invites local seniors to a presentation of Tea @ 3. The event will take place on Wednesday, August 26, at 10:30 am, at Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street.

"Tea @ 3" is an intergenerational friendship initiative designed to improve social connection and mental well-being. The program pairs seniors (age 55+) with young adult "Tea-Mates" for a phone call or video chat once a week. The two connect over tea, enjoy conversation, and perhaps share words of wisdom, too.

The fall 2026 Tea @ 3 session runs mid-September to the end of November. The deadline to register is September 11. Those interested can register directly through https://forallages.org/tea-at-3 or with a physical application form available at the front desk of the senior center.

Complimentary tea and light refreshments will be served during the presentation. Registration is required.

Contact the Newtown Senior Center (203-270-4310) or Newtown Cares (newtownspinitiative@gmail.com) to register.

Newtown Cares-Suicide Prevention Initiative is a community-led organization dedicated to raising awareness, providing educational resources, shattering stigma, and fostering life-saving connection and compassion throughout the town.

For additional information on the initiative contact Maureen Crick Owen at 203-733-4562.

Readers age 55 and over are invited to a tea party that will introduce Tea 3, an intergenerational program that creates “Tea-Mates” who set aside time for conversation once a week for 12 weeks. Attendees do not need to be members of Newtown Senior Center to attend the presentation or participate in the program, both of which are offered without a fee. —For All Ages images
