To The Editor:

Project 2025 — the fever dream of the white, not-so Christian, straight male nationalists — is unfortunately alive and well and moving forward. Under the current Republican administration and Republican controlled congress and with the help of the conservative members of the Supreme Court, religious and exclusionary ideologies are being incorporated into the federal government.

Most obvious is Stephen Miller and his plan to deport as many non-citizens, mostly non-whites, as possible. With the help of ICE, it’s apparently ok to shoot people dead in the street, including citizens, without worrying about the consequences. Legal immigration has been cut back and the only people actively being recruited are white South Afrikaners. Miller, who is Jewish, should be mindful of the fact that some of the people he aims to please with his programs have also been known to chant “Jews will not replace us.”

Reproductive rights for women continue to be under attack including a plan to ban birth control. Civil rights for minorities and members of the LGBTQ+ community have been rolled back and overturning the Marriage Equality act is still on their wish list. Project 2025 advocates for government policies that enforce a strictly “biblically based” definition of marriage and the nuclear family. Women should stay home, reproduce and let their husbands decide how they should vote.

Consolidating power in the executive branch to bypass traditional checks and balances was part of the plan. This has allowed many of the protections that we had for the environment, public lands and endangered species to be rolled back by Executive Order. The beneficiaries of these policies are large corporations, especially the fossil fuel industry.

Minorities and women in the military have been passed over for promotion or outright dismissed. On the positive side, Pete Hegseth has a gender affirming care plan for anyone suffering from low testosterone.

Jesus preached that we should feed the hungry and clothe the naked. There is nothing Christian about a party that actively seeks to delete programs that help the less fortunate while stripping them of their dignity, all for the benefit of their rich benefactors.

It’s hard to tell if all Republicans support these goals because even if they don’t, they are afraid to speak up. Maybe they can participate in Hegseth’s Low T therapy program.
