Elections Have Consequences XXIX
To The Editor:
As Trump’s approval numbers continue to plummet, some of his supporters may feel lost and abandoned. They might consider forming a support group — call it Trumpoholics Anonymous (TA). To be a member of this group you must first acknowledge that Trump has never cared about you — that he is only concerned about amassing wealth and power for himself.
Anonymity is key to the success of this group because speaking out against Trump is still something most Republicans are afraid to do. As our tax dollars are being redirected by one man to serve his own desires, the party, currently in control, is doing absolutely nothing to rein him in. According to Trump, it was his decision to attack Iran. He alone broke it and now has no idea how to fix it. Iranian cyber-attacks on US water systems are being downplayed by Trump who is fixated on blaming innocent people for his botched job on the Reflection Pool. The distribution of federal funds to individual states now depends on how they voted in 2024.
Trump is the grift that keeps on grifting and Republicans are on the verge of absolving him, his sons and their businesses of all past tax liabilities — estimated savings to this family of con artists — $100 million. He has turned the Justice Dept. into his personal law firm, and we are paying for it in more ways than one.
TA meetings should open with a mandatory review of the video showing Trump’s goons attacking the Capital Building on Jan. 6 followed by a discussion that Trump not only pardoned these criminals, but he now wants to reward them with our tax dollars. Individuals can share with each other how much more their personal expenses have gone up thanks to the war, the Trump Tariff Tax, the slashing of health care benefits and the elimination of other programs designed to help non-billionaires.
Like AA meetings, TA meetings can end with their own version of the Serenity Prayer:
“Lord grant me the strength to acknowledge that Biden won the 2020 Election, the courage to admit that Trump frequently lies and the wisdom to vote for Democrats in the next election.”
89 Days till November 3.
