To The Editor:

I am writing to share information about the upcoming Newtown Community Running Event, which will take place on Sunday, August 30, during the morning hours. The half‑marathon portion of this friendly community race will pass through several neighborhood side streets, and we hope residents will join in the spirit of the day.

Runners will move through quickly, and volunteers will be stationed along the route to assist. While there may be brief periods of limited vehicle access, emergency access will remain fully open at all times.

The race route will include Mile Hill South, Turkey Hill Road, River Run, Little Brook, Mountain View, Nearbrook, Hitfield, Benjamin, and Carol Ann. Neighbors along these streets are warmly encouraged to step outside and cheer on the runners, set up a small water station, or simply enjoy the community atmosphere. Residents on the route are also welcome to bring out hoses or sprinklers to help cool runners — a gesture that is always greatly appreciated.

Please note that Mile Hill South will be one‑way (southbound only) from 8 to 11:30 am. During this time, runners will be on the north side of the road from Keating Farms to Turkey Hill.

Anyone interested in participating or volunteering can visit RunSignUp for more information.

We truly appreciate the community’s patience and support as we work to create a positive, energetic event for neighbors and participants alike. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Bruce Goulart 203‑482‑2529.

Thank you.
