SHOP Mural Contest Voting Open
Public voting is open for the inaugural Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP) mural contest.
Readers are invited to visit facebook.com/SandyHookVillage and click on the featured post that announces Voting Is Open.
Each person is granted one free vote, which can be used by Liking the illustration of their choice. Additional votes are available for $1 each, with Paypal links added as comments under each illustration.
SHOP announced its Village Mural Project earlier this year. Residents were invited to submit designs that incorporate multiple elements of Sandy Hook, with the most popular design to become the first mural installed at Heritage Park during SHOP’s annual Rockin’ the Hook concert and family event next month.
Four entries are now being considered for this year's mural.
Funds raised through the contest will go directly toward efforts to replace a pedestrian bridge over the Pootatuck River. The bridge was removed in March 2024 after it fell into disrepair.
Voting for the mural contest is open until September 1.
