Newtown High School Student Club Announces Inaugural Golf Tournament To Benefit Local Veterans
Operation Support Our Military, a student organization at Newtown High School, announces its inaugural Golf Tournament on Monday, September 21, at Newtown Country Club. High school senior and club president Gabriella Payne is leading the effort to bring together local golfers and community members to raise funds for veterans and American Legion programs.
The event features a nine-hole tournament open to players of all skill levels. Registration will open at 10 am, with tee off scheduled for noon.
Entry is $100 per player, which covers the round of golf and lunch. Participants can also enter a 50/50 cash prize raffle during the event.
Payne is president of Operation Support Our Military. She said the NHS club “is deeply committed to honoring and assisting the men and women who have served our country.
“As I start my senior year, launching this tournament is a great way to bring our town together for a good cause. Every dollar raised will directly benefit local American Legion initiatives that support area veterans,” she added.
Advance registration is open and available by sending an e-mail to SupOurMilitary@gmail.com.
Readers are invited to support the effort by playing or donating directly. All net proceeds will go toward community programs supported by American Legion Post 202.
Operation Support Our Military is a student-led organization at Newtown High School dedicated to supporting active duty service members, veterans, and military families. Through community projects and local fundraising, the club works to show appreciation and provide support to those who have served.
