To The Editor:

I have been door knocking, talking to my fellow Newtowners, for the last couple of months about the upcoming election on November 3, and about the issues that are most critical to them. I’ve heard overwhelming complaints from republicans, democrats, and unaffiliated voters alike about three topics: traffic, housing, and taxes. I share these concerns personally. Each one of them seems to be getting worse as time goes on. I am especially concerned about traffic and housing and how they are interrelated. The more housing we have, the more traffic we seem to have. In addition, every time there is an accident on Route 84, Newtown’s traffic increases and we all suffer the consequences.

Mitch Bolinsky has been our state representative for 14 years now. Fourteen years! He seems to think that he deserves to be reelected because of his incumbency and I’m sure that there are a lot of people that will vote for him just because of it. But over those 14 years, each one of these issues has gotten worse and worse. Mitch does not seem to have any plan to solve any of them. If he had such a plan, why hasn’t he implemented it by now? I think we have given him enough time to prove himself.

Michelle Embree Ku has dedicated herself to Newtown for nearly two decades in almost every elected position, many as chairperson. She is now running against Mitch for state representative. It is time for a change. It is time for new ideas. It is time for someone to take charge and solve our problems. I believe that Michelle is that person.

I know that Mitch is not.
