To The Editor:

I don't have time to write this, which is the point. Between kids and home responsibilities, I don't have much bandwidth for politics. But I made the effort this time, because maybe someone's worth it. I wanted to share what I found, since I doubt I'm the only one feeling it. The race that caught my eye: state senate, Amybeth Laroche versus Rob Blanchard.

From what I found online, Rob Blanchard checks the boxes on paper. It just doesn't add up in reality. At first, a family man who's been in politics a while. He works for Ned Lamont directly, as Director of Communications, for nearly a decade. Lamont's unpopular on both sides, so I doubt people want someone voting lock step with him. He just moved here this summer, and as a longtime resident, I don't love that. He plays it safe mostly, smiles and positivity ad nauseam. If he's worked for the governor that long and suddenly wants "change," does that mean voting against Lamont? Why no dissatisfaction with his boss before the campaign trail? Convenient timing.

Amybeth Laroche is pretty much the opposite. She's been making fiery, controversial posts online for months, about every issue under the sun. Some comments are critical since she's not perfect and can make bold claims. But she's genuine, seems to believe every word she says, and shares my frustration. I don't agree with her on everything, but I'm not looking for a rubber stamp, or I'd never vote. I want someone who fights for this district, one I love and want to stay in without getting priced out, not smiling for the camera while repeating Hartford's same mistakes.

Unless something horrible happens before Election Day, I'm voting for Laroche. I'd recommend everyone research both candidates.
