Cross Country Teams Run To Victory At Tarrywile Park

Newtown High School's cross country teams went to Tarrywile Park in Danbury and defeated host Immaculate, along with Weston and Harding of Bridgeport, on September 29. The Nighthawk girls defeated Immaculate 23-38, Weston 23-34, and Harding 15-50. The NHS boys beat Immaculate 15-43 and defeated Weston and Harding each by 15-50 scores.

In the girls' race, Keeley Ferriter was second in 22:01, Annie Fattore fifth in a time of 22:41, Eleanor Smith sixth, also in 22:41, Audrey McLean seventh in 22:59, Nyla Peterson 11th in 23:43, Lahja Kurjiaka 12th in 24:55, and Maddie Britton 13th in 25:00, just ahead of 14th-place finisher Lily Caston in 25:01.

Orion Lowery won the boys' race, crossing the finish line in 16:46 as the Nighthawks took the top five spots overall. Duncan Kolb was second in 16:50, followed by Aarav Shetty in 17:14, Bryce Taylor in 17:20, and Ubay Dissa in 17:51; Marc Cartas was ninth in 18:04 and Sebastian Colburn 11th in 18:14.
