On Saturday, October 17, longtime Newtown resident and Melkite Catholic priest Reverend Thomas J. Davis will be a featured speaker at the St Rose Parish event “Loving Life from Start to Finish.”

Davis will discuss the covenant of non-abandonment and the contradiction of physician-assisted death, also known as Medical Aid in Dying (MAID).

The covenant of non-abandonment is a core ethical and professional commitment in healthcare where a physician promises to maintain a caring partnership with a patient throughout illness, recovery, or end of life.

The morning will begin with Mass at 8 am, followed by breakfast and Davis’s talk in the Holy Innocents Building. All will be on the St Rose campus, 46 Church Hill Road.

Davis was ordained to the priesthood in 2019 after a long career as assistant attorney general for the State of Connecticut. He currently serves as the pastor at St Ann Melkite Catholic Church in Danbury. He has been a resident of Newtown for more than 30 years.

Registration is requested, and available at strosechurch.com/news; click on Loving Life with Reverend Davis.
