Three local candidates accepted the invitation recently to visit The Blackbeard Pub, the studio where “Two Guys and A Pint” podcast episodes are recorded.

Rob Blanchard, the Democratic candidate for State Senate-28th District, and Michelle Embree Ku, the Democratic candidate for State Representative-106th District, both visited The Blackbeard Pub on September 23.

Embree Ku’s episode will drop October 5. Her challenger, incumbent Mitch Bolinsky (R-106), declined the invitation to join Arneth and Hartgraves, according to podcast co-hosts Gavin Arneth and Brian Hartgraves.

Amybeth LaRoche, the Republican candidate for State Senate-28th District, will also be visiting The Blackbeard.

The Two Guys & A Pint episodes featuring Blanchard and LaRoche will drop October 12, also according to Arneth and Hartgraves, who launched the podcast focusing on all things Newtown in late 2024.

Episodes have featured current and former First Selectmen, School Superintendent Anne Uberti, Booth Library Strategic Project Manager Jordana Bloom, and this newspaper’s Editor and Managing Editor.

The podcast can be found on platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and iHeart.

Arneth and Hartgraves welcome topic and potential guest suggestions, and feedback. They can be reached at 2guysandapint@gmail.com.
