Fall Book Donation Day, sponsored by the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library, is set for Sunday, October 18, rain or shine from noon to 5 pm, in the rear parking lot of C.H. Booth Library at 25 Main Street.

Volunteers will be on hand to help donors unload their vehicles.

In addition to new and gently-used books, the Friends welcomes good-condition DVDs, CDs, vinyls, video games, and complete jigsaw puzzles. Books of antiquarian interest are also appreciated.

The Friends cannot accept board games, multivolume encyclopedias, Time-Life Series and Reader’s Digest books, VHS or cassette tapes, outdated reference books, textbooks, travel guides, magazines, or free publications.

Donated items enable the Friends to raise money for the library through the annual Holiday Sale, to be held December 5-6 in the library’s meeting room; the annual summer book sale, planned for July 9-13, 2027, at Reed Intermediate School in Newtown; and year-round at the Friends-operated Little Book Store, which is located near the main circulation desk on the second floor of the library.

Donation Day Coordinator Denise Kaiser reminds readers that autumn “is a good time to de-clutter your home before the winter holidays, and your donations help the Friends underwrite the grants that provide the materials, programs, and online services that make the library such an important part of our community.”

For those unable to get to the library October 18, donations can be left inside the Friends’ Donation Room opposite the elevator on the first floor of Booth Library. The door to the Friends’ sorting area is open during all hours of library operation.
