Still Undecided? Choose Embree Ku
To The Editor:
Michelle Embree Ku is the right choice for the 106th District. Mitch has served Newtown faithfully, and I appreciate his dedication to our town. My reasoning has nothing to do with Mitch himself. It has to do with where he sits.
Mitch and Michelle want many of the same things for Newtown: lower energy costs, property tax relief, and fairer state funding for our schools, including special education. The question should be who can help deliver more of them.
For all 14 of his years in Hartford, Mitch has served in the minority. A minority member can win support for priorities the majority already agrees with, but he can’t decide what moves forward. The Education Cost Sharing formula, special education reimbursement and energy policy are all shaped within the majority caucus, and Newtown’s representative has not been in that room.
Michelle would put us there. For as long as Mitch has been in the minority, Michelle has been governing Newtown: chairing the Board of Education, serving on the Board of Selectmen and the Charter Revision Commission, and sitting on the Legislative Council today. She knows what those state formulas mean for our budget. She has also worked in Hartford, testifying on state education funding long before this campaign and chairing a regional legislative task force.
Newtown should elect a representative who can truly help shape the decisions that affect us. Vote for Michelle Embree Ku.
