Mitch Supports Non-Profits
To The Editor:
Thank you to our State Representative, Mitch Bolinsky for supporting so many nonprofit and community based organizations in Newtown and across Connecticut. Mitch’s direct involvement and legislation have helped them expand their ability to serve residents. Here are just a few examples:
Championed Public Act 17-161 to allow the Newtown Lions Club to sell raffle tickets online so they could increase their fundraising to benefit the charities they support.
Organizes several community food drives every year to support FAITH Food Pantry in Newtown.
Collaborated with Decoding Dyslexia to establish the Office of Dyslexia & Reading Disabilities.
Preserved Newtown’s historic Horse Guard by blocking legislation that would have defunded and effectively shut down the unit, and pushed alternative legislation to keep it funded long enough to transition safely.
Worked with state partners to secure COVID relief grants that kept CT Children’s Museums afloat so they could remain open and continue serving the community.
Partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association to bring the Western Connecticut Alzheimer’s Walk to Newtown this year at Fairfield Hills, the new host site for this major regional event.
Played a key role in getting the Newtown Rail Trail started by securing the critical State and Federal approvals needed to move the project forward.
Together, these efforts underscore Mitch’s dedication to the supporting nonprofits and the organizations that serve residents across CT. Vote to re-elect Mitch, we need to keep Mitch working for us.
