Halloween celebrations have popped up across town the over the past couple of weeks. This week we offer another collection of photos from some of those special events and sightings.
One skeleton was wearing a safety vest while jogging with a small dog within a huge display in the front yard of a Founders Lane home. Dozens of creations filled the front yard, some were hung in trees, purple lights lined the steps in front of the main entrance, and video effects were seen in at least two windows. The homeowners also had creepy sounds playing for those who slowed down to take a close look at the impressive display. —Bee Photo, Hicks
The front yard of 15 Founders Lane was a Halloween bonanza last week. As photographed on October 30, skeletons were in charge of the grounds for the season. As seen from the north, some of the skeletons were dancing, one was riding a stuffed rocking horse, one oversized decoration had a few small ones trying to climb its legs and — toward the ridge of the frame — the “Golden Ghouls” had also taken up temporary residence in front of the residence. — Bee Photo, Hicks
A playful skeleton hung by its knees from the branch of one tree within the 25,000+ square foot Founders Lane display. At lower left is perhaps Mrs Roper from Three’s Company fame. To the left of the skeleton —wearing oversized glasses, a very colorful caftan, and plenty of beads — was a small whiteboard with the message “Come and knock on our door. We’ve been waiting for you.” The outline of a bat was also seen nearby. —Bee Photo, Hicks
Newtown Community Center, along with Newtown Parks & Rec, Newtown Senior Center, and several municipal employees, participated in the beloved annual Halloween Parade once more. The staff at Baum Braces got a little silly on Thursday, October 29. Dr Baum (right) played the role of Dr Seuss’ Cat in the Hat and his staff dressed as Thing 1-10, and one as Sam from Green Eggs and Ham. —Bee Photo, Cross
Newtown Senior Center got into the Halloween spirit during its Halloween Party. Matthew Ames provided a dramatic reenactment and retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, calling on attendees to help with sound effects and act out scenes. —Bee Photo, Cross
These young customers, members of the Keogler family, were among those who responded to the invitation from Ferris Acres Creamery to enjoy a free scoop of ice cream by appearing in costume at the popular Sugar Street location on October 30. The traditional end-of-season offer was good for all ages, although those age 14 and under were also treated to goodie bags on Friday. —Bee Photo, Glass
