Rotary Holds Christmas Party At Local ABD House
Newtown Rotary held its annual Christmas Party for the residents of one of the Ability Beyond Disability (formerly known as Datahr Rehabilitation Institute) homes in Newtown. There was plenty of pizza and soda availability for everyone.
A few years ago, Newtown Rotary adopted the Datahr House in Hawleyville, which houses six residents with disabilities. Since then the Rotary club members have held Christmas parties, landscaped the grounds each spring, had the driveway paved, took the residents to a Raven game, and held summer picnics.
The Hawleyville house is one of about 40 houses in the greater Danbury area run by Ability Beyond Disability. The organization is headquartered in Brookfield and works with those who are handicapped, in an effort to rehabilitate them to the point they can enjoy independent living in one of the many homes such as the one in Hawleyville.
This is only one of the many projects that Newtown Rotary supports in their effort to improve the quality of life in the community and the world and help to make the world a better place for the next generation.
