Occupation: I bake at the Blue Z Coffeehouse. Everything is made from scratch, and all natural. I enjoy that. I’m also making all natural granola bars. My husband runs marathons and asked me to make a bar of all the good stuff he eats — that’s how “R-Bars” came to be. I make them at Andrea’s Bakery and they’re in 15 stores in the area now. I’ve also worked at the Color Center on Queen Street for ten years. I do in-home color consultations for customers.

Family: My husband, Jerry, and I have two daughters. Nicole is in the tenth grade, and Melanie is in ninth grade.

Pets: I have a British long-hair cat and a British short-hair cat. Truffles is the long-hair and Cooper is the short-hair. They’re both about one year old.

How long have you lived in Newtown? We’ve been here for 15 years. We were in Stamford, and originally from Michigan.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to read. I run to relieve stress, and we like to get together with friends when we can.

Do you have a favorite book? Right now I’m reading The Host by Stephanie Meyer, the author of Twilight. Before that I read Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? For the last few years we have been going to Long Beach Island with our friends. It’s great. We just sit on the beach and read, like everyone else.

What is the best thing about Newtown? Meeting all the nice people that I’ve met working here. And the new paved trail at Fairfield Hills. In the summer, I walk it every day.

Do you have someone you really admire? Rachel Ray. I learned a lot of good things from watching her way back. I went to her show last year, and she’s considering my R-Bars for her “snack of the day.”

Do you have a personal philosophy? Go after your dreams. Anything is possible.

What do you most cherish? My family — I have wonderful kids and a loving husband — and my health.
