Yale Alley Cats
To Perform At Trinity
The Yale Alley Cats, the world renowned menâs a cappella singing group from Yale University, will be in concert at Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street in Newtown, on Friday, April 17, at 7:30 pm.
The Alley Cats have been spreading music around the world since 1943. The 15-member all-male close-harmony group finds its roots in jazz, but its repertoire has grown to include Motown, pop, classical, and many other genres.
Their diverse songlist and musical excellence have allowed them to perform at a host of different venues, from jazz clubs to embassies, from the set of TVâs âThe West Wingâ to the main stage at the Dresden Music Festival, from the beaches of Hawaii to âMartha Stewart Living,â from a square filled with hundreds of Parisians to Battell Chapel packed with hordes of screaming Yalies.
This year the Alley Cats have performed in major cities along the East Coast and plan trips to Japan this spring and southern Europe and the Mediterranean this summer.
Music @ Trinity is proud to bring the Alley Cats back to Newtown for a concert that will also feature the Trinity Choristers, a delightful blend of young voices conducted by Fiona Smith Sutherland, Trinityâs music minister, organist and choirmaster.
The hour long concert will be followed by a reception with the performers.
Concert donations will be accepted at the door. Reservations are not necessary but additional information is available from the church office; call 426-9070.
