Julian G. (Corny) Kocaba

Julian G. (Corny) Kocaba, 83, of Fairfield, formerly of Newtown, husband of the late Florence Blomberg Kocaba, died March 18 in Bridgeport Hospital.

He was the stepfather of Peter Blomberg of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, he was the son on the late Peter and Magdalena Kocaba. He was a former resident of Newtown for 17 years before moving to Fairfield four months ago. He had been a toolmaker for the Singer Company where he worked for more than 25 years and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was the former proprietor of Ganch’s Bar & Grille of Bridgeport before retiring several years ago. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Kocaba of Fairfield and Christopher P. Kocaba of Centerville, Mass.; three grandchildren, James T., Julie E., and Douglas P. Kocaba; a sister, Theodora Bartolotta of Ansonia; several nieces and nephews; and two stepchildren, Robert Blomberg and Judy Baez, both of Massachusetts.

Funeral services were held on March 22 in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport, with the Rev Art McClahan officiating. Interment was in St Michael Cemetery.
