Austin Hubbert, son of Gregory and Mary Lou Hubbert, and Emma Iannini, daughter of Dr and Mrs George Michael Iannini of Sandy Hook, were named to the Dean’s List for the 2010 Winter Term at Choate Rosemary Hall, Wallingford.

Dr Michael Obre successfully defended his dissertation for Western Connecticut State University’s EdD Instructional Leadership Program on March 14. Dr Obre is the Fine & Applied Arts Department head at Danbury High School, and he lives in Sandy Hook with his wife Mari. He is the son of Newtowners Jack and Mary Obre.

Kyle Palo, son of Beverly Palo and the late Richard T. Palo, was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2009 term at Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester.

Katherine S. Bamberg has been named to second honors on the Clark University, Worcester, Mass., Dean’s List. To be eligible for second honors at the school, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, of a maximum of 4.3.

Conor J. Deveney has been named to the honor roll at Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., for the winter term. To be named to the honor roll, students must maintain at least a 5-point grade average on a 6-point scale.

Alexandra Doniger, a senior literature major at the State University of New York at Potsdam, was inducted March 28 into the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honors Society. She also is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honors Society. She was a intern last summer at McDean, a construction company in Virginia, where she did technical writing. Alexandra expects to earn her bachelor of arts degree in May and to pursue higher education.

The Gunnery, Washington, announced Amanda J. Kloth was one of its students from local area towns have achieved high honors for the fall term at the college preparatory school.

Colleen Murphy of Sandy Hook was named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Haven for the fall 2009 semester. Full-time undergraduate students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA for the semester to be eligible for the Dean’s List at the university.
