Brian M. Comerford

Brian Michael Comerford, 32, of Middlebury, died February 19 in Waterbury from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on I-84. He is the husband of Dana Lynn (Cocchiola) Comerford.

Mr Comerford was born February 15, 1969, in Danbury, son of Margaret (Duffy) Daniels of Woodbury and the late Thomas P. Comerford. Mr Comerford attended the Newtown grammar schools, was a 1987 graduate of Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, and received his associate’s degree from Mattatuck College in Woodbury.

He served with the Bco1-102nd infantry light, was a sergeant first class in charge of First Platoon, recently completing training for upcoming deployment to Bosnia on a NATO peacekeeping mission. Serving for years with the Connecticut National Guard, and the US Army, he had received numerous awards, decorations, and had distinguished himself during NATO exercises in Canada.

Mr Comerford was a firefighter for the city of Meriden. He also was a volunteer with the Middlebury Fire Department since 1997, and had been an emergency medical technician (EMT) for Champion and Middlebury Ambulances. He was a member of St Teresa Church in Woodbury.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Brian M., and two daughters, Siobhan De and Fionna Aeschlyn, all of Middlebury; a brother, Thomas P. Comerford, II, of Terryville; a stepfather, Richard H. Daniels of Woodbury; five sisters, Laura J. Mathison of Newtown, Patricia M. Ricci of Northfield, Alison Staszak of Washington, Kathryn Comerford of Florida, and Danielle Comerford of Florida; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was held at St Teresa Church on February 22. Burial will be held in the New North Cemetery, Woodbury, in the spring.

The Woodbury funeral home of Munson-Lovetere, Main Street South, Route 6, was in charge of arrangements.
