Wallet Missing
On February 8, a person left a black wallet, which bears a floral pattern, in a shopping cart at the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street, police said.
That wallet is missing. Police ask anyone who knows the whereabouts of the wallet to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841.
Pontiac Hits Nissan
About 2:42 pm on February 8, motorist Jarid Knapp, 25, of 31 Lakeview Terrace, who was driving a 1994 Nissan Altima sedan northward near 34 Glen Road, attempted to make a right turn into a driveway, police said.
Northbound motorist Lansing Bennett, 19, of 7 Grayâs Plain Road, who was driving a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan behind the Nissan, then attempted to slow, but accidentally struck the rear end of the Nissan, causing the Nissan to strike the wall of a detached garage, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Bennett an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
South Main Collision
Police report that motorist Marnie Werner, 23, of Boulder, Colo., was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry sedan southward near 16 South Main Street about 3:11 pm February 9, when she slowed for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by a southbound 2001 Subaru Legacy station wagon driven by Timothy Mcmullan, 23, of 58 Great Ring Road.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Mcmullan an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
School Bus
An accident involving a school bus and a station wagon occurred near 1 Taunton Lake Road about 2:30 pm February 9. The location is near Taunton Lake Roadâs intersection with Mt Pleasant Road.
There were no students on the school bus; there were no injuries in the accident.
Police said that motorist Molly Nostrand, 18, of Taunton Ridge Road was driving a 2006 Subaru station wagon southward on Taunton Lake Road, as school bus driver Paul Miles, 54, of Elm Drive was driving a 2001 Freightliner bus northward on Taunton Lake Road.
As the station wagon attempted to negotiate a curve in the road, the station wagon struck the school bus, police said. Police issued Nostrand a written warning for failure to drive to the right.
Audi Vs Deer
Motorist Gregory Horkachuck, 47, of 8 Patriot Ridge Road was driving a 2003 Audi A-4 sedan northward near 3 Main Street about 6:50 pm February 11, when a deer ran onto the street and collided with the auto, police said. Horkachuck was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Truck Hits SUV
About 9 pm February 8, motorist Martin Basso, 18, of 21 Taunton Lake Drive, who was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck, was attempting to back out of a parking space near the Hawleyville Firehouse at 34 Hawleyville Road, when the truck struck a parked, unoccupied 2000 Toyota RAV-4 SUV, police said. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Sandy Hook Impact
At about 8:10 am February 8, motorist Carol Brunner, 54, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 2004 Volvo S-60 sedan eastward on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Pole Bridge Road, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by eastbound motorist Keri Christie, 25, of Danbury, who was driving a 2009 Nissan Cube SUV, police report.
There were no injuries. Christie received an infraction for following too closely, police said.
Jeep Vs Toyota
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the Citgo/Friendly Service Station at 151 South Main Street about 8 am February 11.
That accident involved motorist Michael Carrello, 42, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, and motorist Candice Davies, 51, of 52 Appleblossom Lane, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Highway Crash
Motorist Michael Gissas, 23, of Southington was driving westward on Interstate 84 about 3:43 pm February 12, when state police stopped him to investigate.
State police said they charged Gissas with motor vehicle violations including driving an unregistered vehicle. State police also charged him with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police released Gissas on $500 bail for a March 8 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Snowy/Icy
State police report that motorist Wen Qiu, 38, of Worcester, Mass., was driving a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder SUV westward on Interstate 84, about two miles east of Exit 9, during snowfall and amid icy road conditions, when the Nissan went out of control and struck some guardrailing along the right road shoulder.
There were no injuries. Qiu received an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions, according to state police.
Button Shop Road
Police report that Bryan Mesko, 19, of Surrey Trail was riding a 2006 Eton motor scooter westward near 35 Button Shop Road about 1:50 pm on February 12.
Mesko told police that when he saw an unknown red vehicle traveling eastward on the road, he drove to the right.
In making that maneuver, however, the motor scooterâs tires slid on some snow along the edge of the road and the motor scooter fell over onto its side, coming to rest against a mailbox, police said. Mesko reported that his shoulder was injured, police said. Botsford firefighters responded to the scene. Police took no enforcement.
Sand Hill Plaza
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the southern driveway of Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street (Route 25) about 8:45 am February 8.
In that accident, Frank Clark, Jr, 58, of Grahamsville, N.Y., who was driving a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer truck, was in the left lane of the exit driveway and was attempting to make a right turn to enter southbound South Main Street, police report.
At the same time, motorist Frances Baldwin, 70, of 29 Copper Creek Circle, who was driving a 2003 Audi A-6 sedan, was in the right lane of the exit driveway and was also attempting to make a right turn to enter southbound South Main Street, police said.
The right-middle section of the trailer on the tractor-trailer truck then hit the left side of the Audi, causing the Audi to drive over some curbing, police said.
There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
Church Hill Road
About 4:19 pm on February 9, motorist Jacob Browning, 18, of 3 Cold Spring Road was driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck eastward near 26 Church Hill Road, police said.
At that time, motorist Elizabeth Gerry, 19, of Southbury, who was driving a 1995 Saturn SL-1 sedan, was attempting to exit the driveway at 26 Church Hill Road, police said.
As the Saturn exited the driveway, the Saturn and the Chevrolet collided, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Gerry for failure to grant the right of way.
Following that collision, as police were parked at the scene of the accident to investigate it, motorist Barbara Ray, 72, of Southbury, who was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, struck a parked 2009 Ford Crown Victoria police car driven by Officer Liam Seabrook, 25, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Ray an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Williams Lane
Police said they received a report of suspicious activity concerning a vehicle that was parked with its lights off on the Williams Lane turnaround circle at about 9:14 pm February 11, so they went there to investigate.
Williams Lane is a short dead-end street extending westward off Poverty Hollow Road.
On investigating, police charged a youth under age 18 with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of tobacco in a public place.
State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes. After processing, police released the youth on a written promise to appear for a February 22 court appearance.
Arrest Warrant
Police said at about 7 pm on February 12, they received a complaint concerning the presence of a suspicious vehicle on the Middle Gate School grounds on Cold Spring Road in Botsford, so they went there to investigate.
During that investigation, police learned that a youth whom they found there was wanted in connection with an incident that had occurred in March 2009 at Newtown High School.
Police said they arrested that youth on a charge of criminal attempt to commit third-degree burglary. The youth had allegedly attempted to illegally enter the parked vehicle of a staff member at the high school, police said.
Because the person charged is under age 18, their identity is shielded by state law. Police said they released the youth on a written promise to appear in court on February 22.
Sandy Hook Crash
During snowy weather conditions about 3:45 pm February 16, motorist Mark Kucky, 49, of 53 Spring Trail was driving a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck westward near 62 Bennetts Bridge Road, as motorist John Racz, 62, of 36 Lakeview Terrace was driving a 2000 Subaru Forester eastward there, police report.
The Ford slid on the snow-covered road and entered the opposite lane, colliding with the Subaru, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Kucky for traveling too fast for conditions.
Snowplow Collision
During snowy conditions at about 9:20 am February 16, motorist Michael Mead, 16, of 14 Farview Drive was driving a 1997 Dodge Dakota pickup truck northward near 63 Philo Curtis Road, as Jozef Prah IV, 39, of Southbury was driving southward while plowing the street with a 2009 town-owned Volvo snowplow truck, police said.
Mead told police that he braked and the Dodge then began to slide on the road. Prah told police that he turned the Volvo to the right to avoid a collision with the Dodge, but the plow then struck a curbside mailbox.
The Dodge then struck the plow that was attached to the front end of the Volvo truck, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Mead a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Boulevard Crash
While driving northward on The Boulevard about 4:40 pm February 16 during snowy conditions, motorist Erika Isolda, 26, of Bridgewater, who was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta sedan, was negotiating a curve in the road, but slid on the snow-covered pavement and struck some guardrailing along the right road shoulder, police said.
Isolda was not injured. Police said they verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.
Hazardous Conditions
Motorist Carol Condit, 44, of 28 New Lebbon Road was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra northward on New Lebbon Road about 12:52 pm February 16 in snowy conditions, when while negotiating a curve in the road, the vehicle slid off the right side of the street and hit a utility pole, police said.
Condit was not injured. Police verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.
Snow and Ice
About 1:43 pm on February 16 during snowy/icy condtions, motorist Mary Garone, 49, of Danbury was driving a 2006 Subaru Impreza sedan eastward on Berkshire Road, near Bradley Lane, when while negotiating a curve in the road, the vehicle slid into the opposite lane and then struck some curbing, police said.
Garone was not injured. Police verbally warned her for failure to keep to the right on a curve.
Slippery Surface
Motorist Erica Barber, 33, of 159 Boggs Hill Road was driving a 2007 Mercedes-Benz R-Class multipurpose vehicle southward on Boggs Hill Road, near Sugar Street, about 10 am February 16 in snowy/icy conditions, when the vehicle went out of control on the slippery road and went off the right side of the street, damaging the vehicle, police said.
Barber was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
