The Second Company Governorâs Horse Guard, quartered on the campus of Fairfield Hills, will be calling upon area businesses in the coming weeks to sponsor the annual Horse Show on Sunday, June 4. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the show will be donated to Swim Across The Sound, the Bridgeport foundation known for its many services to cancer patients and their families.
Among SATSâ fundraisers is an aquathon, a bike-athon, a celebrity breakfast, and its annual marathon swim from Port Jefferson, Long Island, to Captainâs Cove in Bridgeport. SATSâ efforts have long been supported by Connecticut residents, including the Governor and Mrs. Rowland.
This yearâs SATS events will be presided over by Dr Frank Scifo of St. Vincentâs Medical Center and John LaBarca of WICC Radio. Both will be on hand to cheer riders competing in English and Western Classes at the Guard Horse Show.
Last yearâs show, the first ever for the second company, drew more than 100 riders from the tri-state area. Many riders are expected this year, as well. Local tack shops, craftsmen, and blacksmith Dan Messner will display sales items.
Lunches will be available for purchase.
The show is non-rated and the rain date is June 11. Riders should contact Evie Lindeborn at 268-4675 or 426-6723 for a program book and further information. All other inquiries should be addressed to Lt. Mike Saferewitz at 426-9970.
