Church Hill Collision
Police report a two-vehicle accident near 57 Church Hill Road about 5:48 pm April 16.
Motorist Dennis Casey, 57, of Middlebury, who was driving a 2007 Ford Focus sedan eastward on Church Hill Road, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Ford was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Antonio Dispensa, 32, of New Milford, who was driving a 1994 Jeep Wrangler SUV, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Dispensa for following too closely.
DUI Crash
At about 1:08 am on April 21, motorist Angelo DâAmato, 39, of 36 Winton Farm Road was driving a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck southward on Dodgingtown Road, when the truck went off the right road shoulder, striking a curbside mailbox at 21 Dodgingtown Road and then coming to rest on a front lawn there, police report.
DâAmato was not injured. Police said that after investigating, they charged DâAmato with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. Police released him on $100 bail for an April 29 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Taunton Hill Burglary
Police report a burglary and theft occurring at a home on Taunton Hill Road, near that streetâs intersections with Great Hill Road and Plumtrees Road.
Illegal entry into the home took place sometime between 9:30 am and 8:20 pm on April 25.
In the incident, the burglar stole items including about $300 in cash, a wooden whisky barrel, and a gold bracelet, according to police.
Police ask anyone with information on the crime to contact them at 203-426-5841.
Five Trespassers
Police received a report late on the night of April 22 that suspicious activity was occurring at the town-owned Fairfield Hills core campus, so they went to the area to investigate.
Early on the morning of April 23, police found that five youths, who were all under age 18, had traveled to Fairfield Hills in a vehicle, after which they got out of the vehicle and walked around the campus outside the buildings there.
Police said they issued each of the five youths an infraction ticket listing a charge of simple trespassing. Such tickets, which are appealable in court, carry $92 fines.
The identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes are shielded from disclosure by state law.
DUI Arrest
Police report that motorist Ronald G. Davis, 48, of 15 Round Hill Road was seen at about 6:36 pm on April 25, driving northward on South Main Street in a vehicle which was crossing over roadâs center lines and the roadâs shoulder line.
Police said they stopped Davis to investigate and gave him field sobriety tests.
Police said they then charged Davis with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and with risk of injury to a minor. Police said the risk of injury charge stems from Davis having a child as a passenger in the vehicle.
After processing, police released Davis on $250 bail for May 13 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Noisy Honda
Police said that they stopped motorist Tevin Drakeford, 19, of New Britain on Sugar Street (Route 302) about 10 am April 24, because the Honda Accord that he was driving had an exhaust system on it that created loud noise.
Police said they issued Drakeford violations for an automotive noise violation and for driving while under suspension.
Drakeford was released on $100 bail for a May 6 court appearance.`
South Main Street
Police report a two-vehicle accident about 2 pm April 23 on South Main Street (Route 25), near Elm Drive.
Northbound motorist Kristin Ronan, 26, of 25 Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a 2007 Subaru Legacy sedan, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by northbound motorist Kirk Gardner, 16, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2004 Honda Accord sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Gardner a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Highway Incident
State police report that motorist Frank Fiorentino, 72, of New York City was driving a 2006 BMW 330 eastward on Interstate 84, near Exit 11, about 10:15 am on April 22, when a piece of debris flew off a 2008 Sterling garbage truck driven by Jonathan Davis, 40, of Meriden. The flying debris then struck the BMWâs windshield.
There were no injuries. The flying debris caused minor damage to the BMW. No enforcement information was available.
VW Beetle Crash
Motorist Amy Bovin, 24, of Danbury was driving a 1999 Volkswagen New Beetle westward on Interstate 84, between Exits 11 and 10, at about 11:30 pm on April 21, when an unknown red vehicle struck the Volkswagen from behind, causing the Volkswagen to go out of control and then strike some guardrailing along the left road shoulder, state police said.
The red vehicle continued traveling westward on I-84. Bovin was not injured.
State police said that if information on the identity of the offending motorist becomes available, the accident investigation case would be reopened.
Great Hill Road
Police report that at about 5:38 pm on April 20, motorist Matthew Garbarino, 27, of Castle Hill Road was driving a 2006 Subaru station wagon southward on Great Hill Road, when the vehicle veered to the right and struck a utility pole.
Police said Garbarino told them that a deer had run in front of the vehicle and he swerved to avoid colliding with the animal, but the Subaru then struck the utility pole.
Garbarino was not injured. Police said they issued Garbarino an infraction for driving an unregistered vehicle and also verbally warned him for making a restricted turn.
Shelton Man
Police report that motorist Stephen Wilson, 61, of Shelton was driving a 2004 Ford Escape SUV eastward on Mt Pleasant Road about 11:16 pm April 21, when a deer ran out onto the road and collided with the vehicle. Wilson was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Toyota Vs Ford
Motorist Raymond Corbo, 38, of 9 Johnson Drive was driving a 2009 Ford southward on Berkshire Road (Route 34), near Tanglewood Lane, about 5:30 pm on April 20, when he stopped for traffic conditions, police said.
The Ford was then struck from behind by southbound motorist Heath Cunningham, 35, of Ansonia, who was driving a 1995 Toyota, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police issued Cunningham an infraction for following too closely.
Church Hill Accident
At about 4:26 pm April 7, motorist Benjamin Herbstman, 40, of 10 Pearl Street, who was driving a 2002 Infiniti G-35 westward near 62 Church Hill Road, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by westbound motorist Kimberly Rosenthal, 26, of 13 Gopher Road, who was driving a 2009 Hyundai Elantra, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Rosenthal a written warning for following too closely.
Berkshire Road
Police report that at about 6:40 pm on April 7, motorist Larry Katz, 52, of Danbury was driving a 2004 Toyota RAV-4 SUV northward near 30 Berkshire Road, when he stopped for traffic conditions and was hit from behind by northbound motorist Michael Buckley, 34, who was driving a 1997 Mazda 626 sedan.
There were no injuries. Buckley received a written warning for following too closely, police said.
Chrysler Vs Lexus
A two-vehicle accident occurred near 30 Berkshire Road about 6 pm April 14, according to police.
Motorist Lynn Young, 53, of 10 Fawnwood Road, who was driving a 2005 Lexus RX-330 SUV southward on Berkshire Road, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by southbound motorist Linda Kosko, 56, of Shelton, who was driving a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Kosko a written warning for following too closely.
Flagpole Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the flagpole intersection of Main Street, Church Hill Road, and West Street about 6:08 pm April 28.
Motorist Mark Knox, 54, of Elizabeth, N.J., who was driving a 2010 Jeep Liberty westward on Church Hill Road, stopped at a stop sign at that streetâs intersection with Main Street, police said.
Motorist Charles Ringa, 61, of New Milford, who was driving a 2007 Saturn Sky convertible westward on Church Hill Road, then stopped behind the Jeep, police said.
The Jeep moved forward slightly, but then stopped due to traffic conditions, after which the Saturn struck the Jeep from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Ringa received a written warning for following too closely, police said.
