Bill Targets The Catholic Church

To the Editor:

Please join me in convincing our State Representative, Ms Hovey, that she should change her mind about HB-5473 on retroactively eliminating the statute of limitations for sexual abuse lawsuits. She claims that this bill does not target the Catholic Church, but it is well known that most of these unfortunate incidents involve this organization.

This outrageous bill primarily benefits trial lawyers who will dig up cases based on fuzzy old memories. Ms Hovey is apparently one of those secular progressives who believes that destroying religious institutions is somehow best for our community. The Catholic Church, which this bill does in fact target, has done more than any organization to stem child abuse and should not continually be prosecuted in this unfair matter.

Please warn Ms Hovey that she may ultimately learn that the majority of her constituents disagree with her position on this bill when she is voted out of office because of it.
