Gymnasts O’Connell And Delia Vault To First Place

Two Newtown gymnasts from Vasi’s International Gymnastics, won vault competitions at the state championships at Pomperaug High School in Southbury on March 21.

Lauren O’Connell and Emma Delia both took home championships.

O’Connell won first place in the Level 9 competition.

She moves on to represent the state at the Level 9 Regionals in Massachusetts. O’Connell is a 16-year-old sophomore at Newtown High School.

Delia won the Level 7, state championship in the vault competition for the ten-and-under age group.

The ten-year-old gymnast won the title with a score of 9.70.
