Snowy Conditions
Motorist Victoria Soto, 24, of Stratford was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier coupe northward near 109 Toddy Hill Road about 9:41 am on February 16 in snowy conditions, as a noncontact vehicle was driving southward there, police said.
The Chevrolet slid into the southbound lane in front of the noncontact vehicle and then slid back into the northbound lane, after which the Chevrolet struck a curbside mailbox and a utility pole before coming to rest in the driveway at 109 Toddy Hill Road, police said.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported Soto to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Botsford firefighters responded to the accident. Police said they issued Soto a written warning for traveling unreasonably fast.
MV Violations
Police report they spotted motorist Jason Arroyo, 27, of Wolcott driving a vehicle which had only one marker plate southward near 40 South Main Street about 8:25 am February 18, so they stopped him to investigate.
Police then charged Arroyo with failure to two display two marker plates, misuse of a marker plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, and failure to have automotive insurance. Arroyo is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on March 4 to answer the charges, police said.

Slippery Road
About 12:49 pm on February 16, a two-vehicle accident occurred near 71 Mt Pleasant Road amid snowy conditions.
Motorist David Ewen, 56, of Southbury was driving a 1999 coupe eastward, as motorist Edgar Duron, 30, of Danbury was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck westward, according to police.
Police said the coupe slowed for traffic conditions, but then went out of control on the slippery road and slid into the westbound lane, colliding with the truck. There were no injuries.
Police said they gave Ewen an infraction for driving an unregistered vehicle, adding that they verbally warned Ewen for traveling too fast for conditions.
Hazardous Conditions
Police report a two-vehicle accident during snowy/icy conditions about 2 pm February 16 on Berkshire Road (Route 34) near its intersection with Bradley Lane.
The accident involved motorist Tara Minopoli, 27, of Seymour, who was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta, and motorist Cardoso Gonzalo Castillo, 41, of Cary, N.C., who was driving a 1992 Toyota Previa, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Minopoli a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Police said they gave Castillo an infraction for a driverâs license violation.

Toyota Vs Hyundai
About 8:14 am February 17, motorist Glynis Powanda, 64, of Seymour was driving a 2006 Hyundai Tucson SUV westward on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Sherman Street, when a westbound noncontact vehicle up ahead of the Hyundai skidded due to hazardous road conditions, police said.
The Hyundai then stopped in order to avoid colliding with the noncontact vehicle, police added.
Westbound motorist Robert Rousseau, 38, of Seymour, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla sedan behind the Hyundai, then tried to stop, but the front end of the Toyota hit the rear end of the Hyundai, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Rousseau a written warning for following too closely.
DUI Charge
Police report they spotted motorist Erik Jurman, 21, of 21 Pebble Road pulling into the rear parking lot of Christ The King Lutheran Church at 85 Mt Pleasant Road at about 2:37 am on February 21, so they decided to investigate.
Police said they charged Jurman with driving under the influence and with failure to carry a driverâs license.
After processing, police released Jurman on $100 bail for a March 9 court appearance.
Huntingtown Road
During snowy/icy conditions at about 9:56 am on February 16, motorist Carmelo Pavone, 84, of Huntingtown Road, who was driving a 1990 Isuzu station wagon southward near 8 Huntingtown Road, was negotiating a curve in the road when the vehicle struck some guardrailing along the right road shoulder, police report.
The Isuzu then drove across the road and struck a tree along the left road shoulder, police said.
Pavone was transported by ambulance to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Pavone received a written warning for making a restricted turn, according to police.

South Main Street
Police said they stopped motorist Maria McDonald, 44, of Danbury on South Main Street, near Peckâs Lane, to investigate at about 7:13 pm February 19.
Police said they issued McDonald motor vehicle violations for failure to illuminate a rear marker plate and for driving under suspension.
McDonald was released on $100 bail for a March 9 court appearance, according to police.
Multiple Charges
Police report that at about 8:48 am on February 20, they spotted motorist Victoria Baldwin, 55, of New Haven obstructing traffic while she was attempting to make a left turn from westbound Church Hill Road onto southbound South Main Street, so they investigated.
Police said they charged Baldwin with failure to obey a stop sign and with driving with a suspended license.
Police said they later learned that Baldwin was wanted on a warrant held by New Haven police stemming from a March 24, 2009, incident. In connection with that incident, police arrested Baldwin on additional charges including failure to appear in court, driving an unregistered vehicle, and failure to have automotive insurance.
After processing, police released Baldwin on bail for upcoming court appearances in Danbury and New Haven.
Ethan Allen Road
During snowy/icy road conditions about 1 pm February 16, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Ethan Allen Road, police report.
Motorist Douglas Anderson, 50, of Crossbrook Road, who was driving a commercial 2007 Ford truck, was positioned on the westbound shoulder of Ethan Allen Road, and motorist Rosemary Palmer, 56, of Bridgeport, who was driving a state-owned 2006 Dodge sedan, was positioned behind the Ford, police said.
As the Dodge began to enter the roadâs westbound travel lane, the Ford started to back up, resulting in a collision, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Anderson for a backing violation.
Harassment
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Paul Shepherd, 46, of Brookfield went to the police station on the morning of February 18, and was charged with second-degree harassment, police said.
Police allege that Shepherd made a series of harassing telephone calls in January. After processing, police released him on a written promise to appear in court on March 4.
Dodgingtown Incident
Police report that they stopped motorist Claire VanValen, 26, of Bethel about 11:25 pm February 20 near 1 Dodgingtown Road (Route 302) to investigate because she was driving fast.
Police charged VanValen with traveling too fast, driving with a suspended vehicle registration, and driving without automotive insurance.
Police released VanValen on a written promise to appear in court on March 9.
Off The Driveway
Motorist Scott Carroll, 49, of Stratford was driving a 2000 Subaru station wagon southward on Toddy Hill Road about 1:15 pm February 17 and then made a right turn into the commercial driveway at 139 Toddy Hill Road in order to use his cellphone, police said.
While traveling on that driveway, the Subaru struck some curbing and then hit a utility pole, police said.
Carroll was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Toddy Hill Crash
A two-vehicle accident occurred during snowy/icy weather conditions about 12:30 pm February 16 on Toddy Hill Road, near its intersections with Marlin Road and Button Shop Road.
Motorist Patricia Calderara, 46, of Silver City Road was driving a 2006 Chevrolet SUV southward on Toddy Hill Road, as motorist Felicia McLaurin Jaynes, 41, of New Haven was driving a 2004 Ford van northward there, police said.
The Chevrolet skidded on the snowy road, entered the opposite travel lane and then struck the Ford, after which the Ford went off the right road shoulder and struck some rock ledge, police said. Following the two-vehicle impact, the Chevrolet continued skidding southward, police said.
Ambulance volunteers transported Jaynes to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Botsford firefighters went to the accident. Police issued Calderara an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.
Commerce Road
During snowy/icy road conditions about 1:45 pm February 16, motorist David Nowacki, 41, of Bennetts Bridge Road was driving a 2007 Dodge sedan northward near 12 Commerce Road, as motorist Breno Dutra, 26, of Danbury was driving a 2002 Toyota SUV southward there, police said.
The Dodge then went out of control on the slippery road and entered the opposite lane where it collided with the Toyota, police said.
There were no injuries. Nowacki received an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions, police said.
Unknown Driver
State police report that at about 6:13 am on February 21, they discovered that an unknown motorist who was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck with Massachusetts marker plates eastward on Interstate 84 had collided with some metal guardrailing long the right road shoulder and then fled the scene of the crash. The incident is under investigation.
Vehicle Onto Median
Motorist William Russo, 28, of Brookfield was driving an unspecified vehicle westward on Interstate 84, near Exit 11, about 12:09 pm February 20, when he lost control of the vehicle and it went onto the highway median, striking some guardcabling, state police said.
Russo was not injured. Sandy Hook firefighters responded to the scene. Enforcement information was not available.
Highway Collision
About 7 am February 19, motorist Carline Dessources, 34, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2004 Honda Accord westward on Interstate 84, swerved to the left and struck a 2009 Nissan Rogue SUV driven by Linda Velez, 58, of Woodbury, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Cobalt Into Rails
Motorist Mindy Solomon, 32, of Farmington was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 11, on February 17 when the Chevrolet spun out of control and then struck some guardrailing along the left road shoulder, state police said.
Solomon was not injured. Solomon received a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Rollover Crash
Amid snowy/icy conditions about 12:26 pm February 16 on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, motorist Craig Caldwell, 54, of Highland Falls, N.Y., who was driving a Ford Focus carrying three passengers, went up a steep embankment alongside the highway, after which the vehicle rolled onto its side, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Rear-Ender
About 5:50 pm February 16, motorist Deborah Heath, 55, of 12 Hillcrest Drive, who was driving a 2003 Honda CRV, was stopped and waiting at a stop sign at the end of westbound Interstate 84âs Exit 9 off-ramp, state police said.
Motorist Eric Falconer, 42, of Oxford, who was driving a 1990 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, then applied his brakes, but the Chevrolet slid on the wet road and struck the rear end of the Honda, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Safe Found
Police reported this week that a drop-box-style safe was found outdoors near The Iron Bridge Restaurant and Bar at 100 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center. Police are holding the safe for safekeeping. Anyone with information on who owns the safe is asked to contact police at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
Sandy Hook Collision
A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Toddy Hill Road and Turnberry Lane about 1 pm February 8, police said.
Motorist Gregory Bray, 48, of Brookfield was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck northward on Toddy Hill Road in front of northbound motorist Bianca Melendez, 29, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet van, police said.
Police said Bray told them that he put on his right-turn signal and then slowed to make a right turn onto Turnberry Lane, after which the pickup truck was hit from behind by the van.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Melendez for following too closely.
Dog Dies
Police report that they were called to the area of 94 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center about 10:36 pm February 14 where a dog had been found lying dead on the road.
It is likely that an unknown motorist driving an unknown vehicle was heading westward on that road when the vehicle hit the dog and then kept traveling, police said.
The dogâs owner retrieved the dead animal. Police ask anyone with information about who hit the dog on the road to contact Officer Steven Siecienski at the police station at 203-426-5841.
Commercial Driveway
About 2:55 pm February 18, motorist Jillian Jackson, 19, of Ridgefield was driving a 2007 Chevrolet coupe westward on a long commercial driveway at 139 Toddy Hill Road, when while negotiating a curve, she swerved to the right to avoid an approaching eastbound noncontact vehicle which appeared to be too close to the Chevrolet, police said.
The Chevrolet then struck some curbing along the right road shoulder, crossed the road and went down an embankment along left road shoulder, becoming stuck in a ditch, police said.
Jackson was not injured. Police said they verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.
High Bridge Road
Police report a two-vehicle accident during snowy/icy conditions about 3:48 pm February 16 on High Bridge Road at the bridge where the road crosses above the Housatonic Railroad tracks.
That accident involved motorist Carol Damiani, 59, of 93-A Toddy Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Toyota Scion sedan, and motorist Kathleen Hickey, 51, of Monroe, who was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia SUV, police said.
Ambulance volunteers transported Damiani to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Botsford firefighters responded to the accident. Police said they issued Damiani a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
 Evading Responsibility
At about 10:51 am on February 23, motorist Samuel Wolff, 20, of Bethel was driving a 1996 Honda Accord eastward on Meadow Brook Road, near South Main Street, when the vehicle slid into a utility pole along the right road shoulder during slippery driving conditions, according to Newtown police.
The vehicleâs airbags deployed in the impact, which damaged the utility pole, police said.
Wolff then left the scene of the accident after which he was found in Monroe by Monroe police, Newtown police said.
Newtown police charged Wolff with evading responsibility, making a restricted turn, and failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card. Police released Wolff on $100 bail for a March 9 court appearance.
