NHS Lacrosse Teams Conclude Regular Seasons With Wins
The Newtown High School girlsâ and boysâ lacrosse teams concluded their regular seasons with wins over Joel Barlow on May 20.
The girls went unbeated in conference play and capped the season with an 17-8 win over Barlow on the road.
Meghan Bridges scored four goals and Lisa Vendel had four goals and four assists in the win. Kaitlin Brophy scored three times and Meghan Carney found the net twice. Annie Fletcher had four draw controls and goaltender Marnie Thompson made seven saves.
The boysâ team defeated Barlow 15-7 in the final game of the campaign.
Kevin Canavan ended the season ranked 17th in the nation in scoring with 66 goals. Christian Beitel ranked 41st with 39 assists and Jacob Dauz ranked 39th with 122 ground balls.
Both squads were scheduled to begin South-West Conference playoff action on Wednesday (after The Bee sports section went to press).
Masuk was the girlsâ teamâs first scheduled opponent and Brookfield was the boysâ teamâs first opponent.
Semifinal round games are scheduled for Friday.
